A Year Later – How a Movie Won Over The Highway Men on ‘The Walking Dead.’

Lately, I have been thinking about a post I made two years ago as of yesterday. A year before we knew there would be a global pandemic. A year before, I had to face the fact that some of the talking points I laid out in my article, How a Movie Won Over The Highway Men on ‘The Walking Dead’ would become somewhat true. The crazy part is I remember the last time I went to see a film in a theater– the exact day. It was March 12, 2020, and I saw two films that night. I saw The Hunt, and I saw Bloodshot. And since I saw Bloodshot first, the last film I saw in theaters was The Hunt.

‘Searching’: Certainly Answers Questions

What happens when one realizes that they do not know their child? Searching answers those questions and manages to capture audiences through clicks and a blinking cursor. The film relies on the viewers’ willingness to go on a journey with David Kim (John Cho) to locate his sixteen-year-old daughter, Margot Kim (Michelle La), who goes missing. Trying to give his daughter the benefit of the doubt that she will return home, David realizes that he should have called earlier as soon as he places the phone call to 911. With the case assigned to Detective Vick (Debra Messing), an urgency to find Margot, who has already been missing for 37 hours, and lends itself to an all-hands-on-deck line of thought.

Why Horror Fans Are The Best

I’ve been a horror fan since I was nine years old. I realize that it is probably weird for a lot of people to read. I understand that horror is not for everyone, but the genre has managed to bring a significant amount of joy to a lot of people around the world. I think it creates more goodness than some might expect with the community surrounding it. I’ve been to many horror conventions over the past four years. The comradery there is by far some of the best I’ve experienced. Instant friendships that last for years to come, and that’s something to be proud about at the end of the day.

Support Independent Horror Film Captive

Since I was nine years old, I have loved the horror genre. My love for horror came after “dating” someone who also loved the horror genre when I did not. I can remember him telling me to leave so he could watch Jason Goes to Hell. At a young age, I also remember being furious and annoyed by this. Fast forward a couple of months, and I became immersed in horror. With that said, some of my favorite horror lore revolves around vampires. No, not the ones that sparkle.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre film review

During the first viewing of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), I was scared to death. Granted, one of my cousins convinced the film’s events were all true. Yes, there are elements of truth within the film, but the film is not a true story. However, if someone believes such when viewing the film, especially late at night, this tends to freak them out. The original feature is one I watched entirely too young for that reason. I did not need to think there were people in the world that sick.

‘Bloodshot’ Film Review: A Mediocre Plot Redeemed by Vin Diesel’s Heart

Sometimes I walk into the theater with the thought process; this is going to be a great action film. I don’t expect much from a lot of action films at times. Maybe this is because sometimes they can be a bit derivative, and they contain the same actors over and over again. In a way, they do not feel like they have anything new to offer us. The plots differ, but not as much as we would like them too from time to time. In this case, upon seeing the previews for Bloodshot for months, I remained intrigued all the same by Vin Diesel’s latest venture into the genre. The difference is while the plot is predictable at times, Bloodshot provides audiences with the one thing they might not be expecting. Heart.

‘The Hunt’ Film Review: A Riveting Extreme Retelling of Richard Connell’s The Most Dangerous Game

Attention: There are slight spoilers ahead in this review.

The moment studios delayed the premiere of The Hunt; I thought it was a wrong decision. As soon as I saw the premise of the film, I immediately thought of Richard Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game.” This movie is a story we’ve seen adapted for years. The Hunger Games is even a loose example of the story, but on a grander scale and with children. Regardless though, there is nothing new in the world of horror about a person hunting another person. That is half of the genre. Despite the film’s politically charged nature, in this instance, politics only add to the intensity of this particular adaptation of Connel’s famous short story.

More Writing Monday


I’m thinking every two weeks I’m going to start a new thing on my site. All my writings for other sites are now linked here for you guys to read. I am also thinking of making two new tabs so I can post my work there as well. Granted, people would need to check those tabs on more of a daily basis since an actual post would not go up, BUT it would at least get EVERYTHING I write out there and on three platforms. Of course that might be four platforms as I think I should embrace Instagram with some images too! I’m figuring it all out and apparently by talking to you guys. Kinda sorta. Ahem. Anywho, without further adieu enjoy the writing I have completed recently.
