Damn My Vagina

For some time now, I have had the desire to start a podcast. At first, I was unsure what I wanted to cover. This past year has made me realize a lot of things about myself as well as the world. I cannot help but think there are so many societal pressures on women to have it all. On top of that, so many people write hate to other women online who seemingly do have it all. The crazy part to me is women hating on other women! Some days it feels like there is no way to win as a woman. The more I thought about that, the more I knew I wanted to make something to motivate, inspire, educate, and empower women. I knew I wanted to make something that let women know that they are more than their vaginas!

Selena Knew How to Keep Cool

After watching the movie Selena when I was younger I thought it would be absolutely okay to walk around in pants and a bra. It just made sense to me. I still had closed on as my boobs had a top on them and I was cooler suddenly. My mother and I got into many arguments as to why it was not appropriate to walk around like that around my father to which I explained it was like walking around in a bikini top. She of course countered with that I didn’t wear bikinis to swim. I still thought this was crap at the time and still do in a way.

What is your favorite musical?

Considering that the challenge I chose to do was was a thirty day challenge, I felt the need to challenge myself in this thirty-one day month.  Some would probably say that was when I played catch up last weekend, but nope.  I was determined to come up with a subject to write about for day thirty-one.  After looking over what I have already written about, I debated on writing about my favorite hero.  After all, I shared my favorite villain so that makes sense.  However, I soon realized that I have yet in my thirty day challenge to talk about any musical outside of my guilty pleasure film.  How is this even possible?  How can there be a movie challenge that does not ask me about my favorite musical?!  I know some of you are probably shocked, considering how much I love horror, to learn that I love musicals just as much.  The truth is though Singin’ in the Rain is the film that truly made me love movies.  I fell in love in that classroom trailer watching this one in music class on the smallest television ever.  If I were not enamored by cinema prior, Singin’ in the Rain solidified my love for movies. What movie has the best soundtrack?

There are plenty of movie soundtracks I have fallen in love with over the years.  I even have some soundtracks that friends have bought me because they have assumed that I liked the film so therefore would enjoy the soundtrack. They of course have not been entirely wrong in their thought process.  I even own a couple of television soundtracks.  The truth is depending on the movie, a soundtrack or a musical score can make or break the tone.  Could you imagine Jaws without it’s iconic score?  Or Halloween without Carpenter’s masterpiece?  What about Dirty Dancing without “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” or Pretty Woman without hearing “Pretty Woman?” Me either.  And the truth is part of what I loved about the original Footloose was the music.  I think that is why they knew they had to use some of the same music in the updated version, despite the fact they made the soundtrack country at it’s core.  Regardless, the original Footloose‘s soundtrack stands the test of time.  Or at least it does for me, which is why it is the movie I have chosen that has the best soundtrack.
