Wite-Out Control

I tend to plan anything involving reading and writing now. I block out times to read books. I’ve been aiming to read an hour from an eBook or an actual book. I also aim to listen to at least an hour of an audiobook. Reading is always a great way to help our writing. And soon, I’m going to be reading one of five books focused on writing. This week by the time I get through my days, I’m SO ready for bed that my reading times have fallen by the wayside. There have been many little x’s in my planner or a note of Thurs. to make it up tomorrow. The other thing there is a lot in my planner is wite-out.

Nightmarish Learning Curves

There have been times that I miss college and miss school in general. I think it’s because while there, you’re encouraged to learn. You’re paying to learn at that point, so why would you not gobble up everything there is to offer? There’s no reason not to. The older I get, though, the more I realize that we should always keep learning something. I like having my mind active outside of horror and mystery books sometimes. I have read more self-help books since I entered therapy than I ever thought I’d read in this lifetime. And in the past two weeks, I have watched more tutorials on making a podcast and editing in Audacity than I ever thought I would. However, just because you watch the tutorials does not make you a master overnight. In fact, that learning curve can sometimes kick your ass, as it did me. Let me explain.

Why Horror Fans Are The Best

I’ve been a horror fan since I was nine years old. I realize that it is probably weird for a lot of people to read. I understand that horror is not for everyone, but the genre has managed to bring a significant amount of joy to a lot of people around the world. I think it creates more goodness than some might expect with the community surrounding it. I’ve been to many horror conventions over the past four years. The comradery there is by far some of the best I’ve experienced. Instant friendships that last for years to come, and that’s something to be proud about at the end of the day.

Plans, Actions, & Goals, Oh My

Hello all! Although it might not seem like it here, I have been writing A LOT. I talked with my therapist a while back, and my goal is to get to a point where I write at least 2,000 words a day. I’ve been rethinking that goal for sure lately. Part of me wants to make it more article-based, and the other part of me wants to keep it at 1,000 toward a book and then articles as well. I’ve always felt that I should write a book. Then again, the desire to be an author has always been strong within me. A writer. An author. I think the hard part of writing is narrowing down an area to write about overall. I’ve struggled with doing so with this site even over a couple of years I’ve been writing. And the last two years, for the most part, I’ve mainly been reposting pieces that I’ve written elsewhere.

I’m breaking up with rejection

I’ve seen the quote in my image used more with the word man instead of woman. However, I’m taking this and using the woman version to make my point.

Over the past couple of years I have noticed how people are more than happy to steal your power. This would not be a big deal if these people were not lead to steal your happiness. While at the time I would let this get me down or I would find myself dwelling on words said, or words left unsaid, I’ve found this is not acceptable. We create a mindset for ourselves that become detrimental to ourselves. Here’s the tricky part though. Words have so much power. Power that I want to take away from them today through writing this.

More Writing Monday

I’m thinking every two weeks I’m going to start a new thing on my site. All my writings for other sites are now linked here for you guys to read. I am also thinking of making two new tabs so I can post my work there as well. Granted, people would need to check those tabs on more of a daily basis since an actual post would not go up, BUT it would at least get EVERYTHING I write out there and on three platforms. Of course that might be four platforms as I think I should embrace Instagram with some images too! I’m figuring it all out and apparently by talking to you guys. Kinda sorta. Ahem. Anywho, without further adieu enjoy the writing I have completed recently.

This time on As the Writer Writes

I’m running out of creative ways to give you guys updates on my writing! The good news is though that it’s that time again that I keep you all appraised of what else I have been writing. It’s been a crazy busy past few weeks, which I plan on writing about soon rather than later, but for now these are the links I can provide you with for the time being. Enjoy!

Write Write Write All Day Long

Hey guys! Time seriously keeps getting away from me. I cannot believe it’s been so long since I’ve posted anything here! I keep saying I’m going to get better and instead I find myself looking back and wondering where all my time went to. I suppose that’s the story of everyone’s life though. I have a more serious update I’ve been working on that I took the time to write by hand first. I think most of that is because I wanted to take my time and truly think through what I wanted to say. Nothing horribly bad just feelings.
